Renovate Your Basement This Fall

Fall is a great time for indoor projects, and as the days become shorter and colder, you might be looking forward to finally finishing that renovation that’s been looming for a few months. If you’re remodeling your basement, you may need to move some things out of the way before you can begin. If you have boxes down there, it can be a good idea to put them in storage until the project is finished. You may have also stored some extra furniture down there, and the less you have to work around things, the faster and better your progress can be. At EZ Storage® in St. Louis, we can keep your things safe and sound until you’re ready to move them back in.
Where to Begin?
If you have a full basement (meaning that it spans the entire length and width of your house), then you might be wondering where the best place to begin your renovations will be. Do you have plans to put an entertainment area or game room at one end? Are you putting in a new bedroom so your teenager can finally move into the basement? Regardless of why you’re remodeling, it’s important to know what to focus on first. Deciding what makes the most sense can help you make your decision. If you have a functional entertainment area upstairs, but your kids are still sharing a room, it might be best to start on the basement bedroom. If your kids are all out of the house, you will most likely feel okay with building the home theater.
Once you know where to start, the first step will be to move boxes, furniture, and anything else out of the way. It might seem like a good idea to move them from one end of the basement to the other, but you’ll have to move them again once you begin working on the other end of the space. Why not move them once, put them into storage, and not have to worry about them for a few months? Our month-to-month leases make it easy to store things for the time you need, so if your renovations only take a month, then that’s how long you have to pay for self-storage!
Creating a Storage Room
Perhaps part of your basement plans is to make a section of it into a usable storage room. You want to have a spot where you can store holiday decorations, seasonal clothes, and other things you don’t use year-round, and having a dedicated storage room can keep them close by but still out of sight. We can keep everything secure until your new space is done, and since you’ll be able to access your rented unit on any day of the week, you won’t have to wait to pick up your personal belongings.
Many homeowners wait until the colder months of the year to work on the interior of their house, and if you have plans to remodel your basement, don’t let stacks of boxes and old furniture stand in your way. Bring everything to EZ Storage® and we’ll help you find the ideal space.
We look forward to meeting you!
