Moving to A New City

It can be exciting to move to another city, but the transition can also come with a unique set of challenges. As you’re packing up your stuff, you may come across some items that you don’t need to take with you, or that you want to keep safe for the future. At EZ Storage® in St. Louis, we can help you find the perfect self-storage unit for anything that you need to leave behind.

It’s also a good idea to be prepared for what the new city has to offer in terms of weather and traffic. If you’re flying to your new home, then you might have to leave a vehicle in storage until you can come back and get it. Whatever the case may be, you can count on us to help!

What’s the Weather Like?

If you’re from St. Louis, then you’re likely used to cold winters and hot summers that are interrupted by fairly nice weather in the spring and fall. If you’re moving to a city that’s further north, then it’s important that you have the apparel and accessories for cold weather living. You might not need all of your shorts and t-shirts, so you can put some of those things in storage.

If you’re moving somewhere warmer, then you might be able to leave your winter apparel behind. You can store it until you decide what to do with it, or you can donate it to those who will need it once winter returns to the St. Louis area.

What’s the Traffic Like?

It’s fairly likely that you’ll be driving to your new home, either in your car or in a moving truck that’s towing your car. Before you leave, it’s a good idea to check to see what the traffic is like in your new city. You’ll likely get a taste of it once you arrive, but knowing beforehand where you’re going and how to get there can cut down on the stress of traffic.

Another thing to check into is whether or not there’s a good public transportation system in your new city. If you can take a train or a bus to and from work, then you might not need your car or truck. You can store a vehicle with us so that it’s safe and sound until you decide to sell it, or until you decide to come and get it. We have room for cars, motorcycles, and many other vehicles.

Moving Temporarily

Perhaps you’re moving to another city on a temporary basis, either for school or a job. You plan on coming back to St. Louis sometime in the next year, but you’re not sure when. By renting a self-storage unit, you can keep certain belongings safe and easily pick them up when you return. You won’t have to worry about storing things in your basement or garage, where they could be damaged or stolen.

If you own a house in the St. Louis area that you plan to rent out while you’re gone, then self-storage can provide the perfect solution for all of the personal belongings that you need to store. You’ll likely leave your furniture and appliances in the house, but your personal effects will need to be put somewhere. Our staff can help you find the ideal space for anything that you want to protect.

At EZ Storage®, we know that moving to a new city can be challenging, but also rewarding. If you have items that you need to store before you move, or you’re only going to be gone for a year, then visit one of our metro-area storage locations today. We have a number of unit sizes available, and you can find one that fits your budget. Every space is rented on a monthly basis, so you’ll only have to pay for the time you need.

We look forward to helping you!
