Fall Storage Tips, Part Two

House surrounded my trees with autumn leaves and text "Fall storage tips, part two"

Last week, we posted part one of our blog series on fall storage tips and how you can find the best self-storage options for your summer clothes, gardening tools, and motorcycle or ATV. In part two, we’ll look at more tips that can help you decide which option is best for you. When you need self-storage in St. Louis, EZ Storage® is here to help!

1. Rent Sooner Rather Than Later

dreamstime_xxl_38264935As September grows closer and you begin planning for the kids to go back to school and for work to pick up again, it can be easy to put “renting a storage unit” at the bottom of your priority list. However, the longer you wait, the harder it may become to find a unit that meets your needs and fits your budget. More and more people will be storing summer gear and vehicles, and you may have to settle for a unit that’s too big or too small for your stuff. At EZ Storage®, we’ll always do our best to help you find a space that works for you. Visiting this month rather than next could help your chances when it comes to finding the perfect unit.

2. Give Everything a Good Wash

As you’re putting your patio furniture or pool accessories away for the fall, be sure to give them a good washing before you stash them in your storage unit. The summer months likely brought all types of weather, and your patio table may be in need of a thorough scrubbing. Taking the hose to it, the chairs, and your pool floaties will keep them in good condition while they’re sitting in storage. When you take everything out again next year, you shouldn’t have to clean them up too much to get them ready for another summer of outdoor fun.

3. Pick a Climate-Controlled Storage Unit

useWhile St. Louis summers can be quite warm, the winters can be just as cold. If you have a motorcycle or another vehicle that you plan to store, choosing a climate-controlled storage unit can be a great idea. The same is true for any plastics or metal that are susceptible to damage when exposed to cold, as well as any sensitive electronics that you plan to store. Renting a climate-controlled unit in the fall will help you prepare for the winter, and you’ll know your belongings are being kept at an appropriate temperature.

We hope that these tips will help you decide what type of fall storage you need this year, and that when you’re ready to store items, you’ll come to an EZ Storage® location. With four facilities in the greater St. Louis area, you shouldn’t have to drive too far to find a suitable unit. Once you rent a unit, you can access it on any day of the year, and our staff members and resident managers are always happy to help however they can. Summer is winding down, and if you’re thinking about self-storage for the fall, then please visit us today.

We look forward to meeting you!
