When to Move Your Things Into Storage

In our last post, we talked about some things to look for in a self-storage location. We hope you found that information useful, and if you’ve decided to rent a self-storage unit in St. Louis from one of our EZ Storage® locations, we can’t wait to help you find the ideal space.

Once you’ve made up your mind about renting storage, the next question that often comes up is, “When am I going to be able to move my things into the storage unit?” We definitely understand that question, and we’re here to help you figure out when will be the best time to transport your belongings.

On a Weekday

If you have time during the week, it can make sense to move your things into storage on a weekday. You might get off work early one day, or you might work a later shift, giving you time to put some boxes and tubs into your car or truck and bring them to your unit. Putting things into storage on a weekday can be more convenient, as there are usually fewer people accessing their storage spaces during the week. You won’t have to worry about other people or other vehicles being in your way, and you can get in and out of your space in a short amount of time. We offer access hours until 9 p.m. seven days a week, so if you get off work in the evening and need to drop something off, you can do so.

On a Weekend

For many people, it’s not possible to visit their storage unit on a weekday, and moving any items into storage has to wait until the weekend. You might do most of your house cleaning and chores on the weekend, making it an ideal time to pack things up and bring them to your storage unit. You can stop by in the morning and have everything organized before noon, or you can spend the morning at home and bring your boxes and tubs to the unit in the afternoon. Our access hours include weekends, so you don’t have to worry about not being able to get into your space. Keep in mind that weekends tend to be busier in terms of people visiting their storage units, so plan on it taking a bit longer to get your things loaded and unloaded.

On Your Day Off

Perhaps you only work four days a week, or you like to take a day off every now and then. If so, moving things into storage on your day off can be a good use of your time. You probably also have other errands you need to run while you’re not working, and you want to reserve part of the day for relaxing and enjoying your time away from your job, so we’ll do whatever we can to make your visit as quick as possible. If you’re renting a space for the first time, we’ll make sure you have access to it right away. If you’re unfamiliar with the facility, we’ll be there to answer any questions and point you in the right direction. Before you know it, you’ll be done putting things in storage and you can get on with your day!
