What Do You Need in Each Area of Your Home?
At EZ Storage® in Philadelphia, we understand that you want to keep your house as organized and as clean as possible. When clutter begins to build up, you might begin to think about what you really need in each room or area of your house. If you have boxes that are taking up space in the garage or closets, then self-storage might be the best solution.
Our team can help you find the right storage unit for your belongings. If you’re trying to create more space at home, or you simply have items that don’t need to be stored in the house, then visit one of our metro-area locations today.
The Living Areas
For this post, we’re going to consider the “living” areas of your home to be the family room or living room and the bedrooms. This is where you live or spend your time sleeping, relaxing, and spending time with friends and family.
These spaces are meant to be comfortable, and if they become too cluttered, that comfort can quickly disappear. When thinking about what you need for the living room and bedroom, it’s often good to consider the furniture first. You obviously need a bed in the bedroom, along with a dresser and nightstands. But what about that extra chair in the corner? You put it there, thinking you’d sit in it from time to time, but as the years have passed, you’ve used the chair less and less. Moving it out of the room and into storage could be the best option.
When you think about the living room, you might consider how much seating you actually need. While a big couch is always nice, it might not be the best option for your living room. A couch and two chairs could be ideal, but if everyone always sits on the couch or in the chairs, you could possibly move some seats out of the room.
Another thing to consider for both the living room and the bedroom is the decor in each space. You may have a favorite painting on the wall or small pieces on the shelves, but is there any decor that’s simply taking up space? If your shelves or walls feel too crowded, then think about what you could put in storage or potentially sell to someone who would appreciate the items.
The Work Areas
The work areas in your home are often considered to be the kitchen, the bathroom, and the garage. These spaces have specific purposes, and you use them to get something done, whether that’s cooking a meal, taking a shower, or working on your car.
It’s important for these areas to be efficient and organized, since you don’t want to spend all of your time looking for what you need. If your kitchen cupboards and cabinets are overflowing with cups and bowls or pots and pans, then think about storing some items until you need them. If your bathroom has lots of extra bottles and jars, then go through them and see what you actually need.
As for the garage, this is often where the worst clutter can be found. You might put empty boxes out there, intending to recycle or reuse them, but then they just sit there for months on end. You may have a tool box near your workbench, but no one but you seems to be able to put things away when they’re done with them. You also store boxes full of extra stuff in the garage, and after a while, they begin to encroach on your work and parking spaces.
