Storing Your Landscaping Equipment for the Season

August will soon come to an end, and with it, the end of the commercial landscaping season. If you own a landscaping or lawn care business, then you might have a few mowing or trimming jobs in September, but the majority of your work is done for the year. Unload Your Trailer

Your landscaping trailer has been full of mowers, trimmers, rakes, and more since the beginning of May, but now the time has come to unload everything and keep it protected until next year. You might have room for the trailer at your shop, but you want to be sure that the equipment is covered so that it doesn’t get rained or snowed on this fall and winter. Covering your mowers with a tarp is an option, but wouldn’t it be better if everything were inside and sheltered from the elements?

With a storage space, you can unload your trailer at the end of August, park the empty trailer for the season, and then load it back up again in the spring. We offer units on a month-to-month basis, so you’ll only pay for the time you need!

Taking Inventory of Your Equipment

Once everything is inside the unit, you can begin taking inventory of the equipment that needs to be repaired, what’s in good shape, and what needs to be replaced. If you had a trimmer that just refused to work for more than 10 minutes, then it can be a good idea to take it out, bring it to the shop, and work on it before next spring. If you have a mower that has simply seen better days, then you can scrap it for parts or sell it and put the money towards a new model.

Speaking of new models, your storage unit can be a great place to keep any new equipment that you buy safe until you’re ready to break it in next year. Hardware and home goods stores will often have sales on landscaping equipment and accessories during the fall, so it can be a great time to pick up new shovels, rakes, and anything else you need for your business.
