New Year, New Apartment?
It might be hard to believe, but 2020 is just over a month away! At EZ Storage® in St. Louis, we know that the New Year can bring all sorts of exciting changes for you and your family. If finding a new apartment is one of those changes, then you’ve likely already started looking. Your lease might be up at the end of the year, and you want to make sure that you’ve found the perfect place before the calendar turns to January. Should you need a self-storage unit before, during, or after your move, then we’ll be here to help!
Set a Budget
One of the first things you can do before viewing potential apartments is to set a budget for what you want to spend monthly on rent, utilities, and everything else that comes with a new place. Consider what you’re spending on your current apartment and use that as a basis when looking at new spots. Are you okay with spending a bit more to have some more living space? Is what you’re spending now comparable to a similar apartment on the other side of the city? Having a budget can help stay within range of what you can realistically afford for living expenses.
Make a Moving Timeline
Once you’ve found a suitable apartment, it’s good to make a moving timeline. If you’re planning to move out at the end of December, then think about all that you need to do between now and then. You’ll have to pack, get rid of things, and clean the apartment you’re living in, as well as figure out how you’re going to get your belongings from your current place to your new one. Will you hire a moving company, or handle everything yourself? Are you going to ask friends and family to help you transport everything? Having a timeline can make things less stressful, since you’ll know what needs to get done.
Find a Storage Unit
Renting a storage unit can be a big help when it comes to moving. You can store things that aren’t going to fit in your new apartment, such as extra furniture, or you can put away seasonal things such as summer clothing and outdoor gear. With our monthly lease options, you can rent a space for the time you need, and then take everything to your new apartment once you’re settled. If there are things that you want to keep in storage long-term, then you can pay month by month for as long as you need!
At EZ Storage®, we want to help make your end-of-year move to a new apartment as simple as possible, so that you can focus on everything that you want to do in the New Year. When you visit one of our St. Louis-area locations, you’ll be able to speak with a knowledgeable staff member or resident manager who will help you choose the best storage unit for your belongings. They’ll answer all of your questions and make sure you feel comfortable with storing your items with us.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
