Moving and Storage During Coronavirus

At EZ Storage® in Pittsburgh, we understand that the coronavirus pandemic has created unique situations for many people across the country. As a self-storage provider, we’re doing everything we can to make sure that our customers, employees, and family members are safe and healthy during this time. We know that life has changed drastically for many people, especially those who were planning to move during the spring or summer months.

If you’re planning to move in the near future, and you need an affordable self-storage unit where you can store things while your new home is cleaned, or while you settle in, visit one of our metro-area locations today. All of our offices are staffed during normal business hours, and while public access may be restricted, we can write a new lease over the phone or via email.

Postponing Your Move

Moving can be stressful during normal times, but at times such as these, it can be extremely overwhelming. If possible, it could be best to postpone your move until things are a bit more certain and you’re not as worried about the health and safety of yourself and your family.

However, you might have no choice but to move now, due to a rental lease coming to an end or a closing date that’s approaching. It could be beneficial to speak with your landlord about temporarily extending your lease, or contact your real estate agent to see if the closing date can be pushed back. If neither of those options are available, and you have to stick to your original moving date, take extra precaution while relocating to your new home. Be sure to check local, state, and federal health guidelines to see what steps you need to take while traveling from your old home to your new one.

Hiring a Moving Company

If you’ve already hired a moving company to transport your belongings, be sure to check with them that they are still operating normally. Professional movers will hopefully already have health and safety measures in place to protect themselves and your family as the moving team enters your home to load your things. Giving your moving company a call can help put your mind at ease as your moving date approaches.

If you’re renting a moving truck and taking care of your relocation yourself, you’ll likely have to make a reservation online or over the phone. Give yourself plenty of time to rent a truck, and double-check with the company you use where you should pick up and drop off the truck before and after your move. If you end up needing to cancel your reservation, give the company as much notice as possible.

Storing Your Belongings

If you have to move out of your current residence, but you can’t move into your new one quite yet, it’s possible you’ll need self-storage for a short period of time. You might be staying with friends or relatives in the interim, and renting a storage unit can help keep your belongings safe while you wait to move into your new home. At EZ Storage®, we can help you find the right space, and with the use of our free* local move-in truck, you won’t have to worry about how you’re going to transport your furniture, appliances, and other large items.

We’re Here to Help
