Storage units have been around for years, but if you’ve never inquired about a self-storage unit or you’ve never had to rent out a space in a storage facility to store your belongings, the entire thing can become a pretty vague and undervalued service to pay for. The truth is, there are various benefits to choosing to rent out a self-storage unit at a storage facility, and each individual renting a unit will benefit differently.

Whether you’re considering renting a self-storage unit or you’re unsure as to whether or not you’re making the most of a storage unit you already have, today’s blog is perfect for you! Today, the team at EZ Storage ® in Philadelphia will be going over a few of the questions that we are most frequently asked in hopes you’ll be able to enjoy all the benefits of your storage unit rental. If you have a question regarding the storage units or services that we offer, and you don’t see answers in today’s blog, don’t hesitate to contact our team. We are always happy to find you an answer and ensure that you’re happy with your experience.

What size storage unit do I need?

This is, without a doubt, one of the most common questions that we get — and we love it. Our customers understand that their storage needs aren’t going to be the same as their neighbor, mother, or best friend, and the great thing is that we understand this too. Unfortunately, there’s no one answer that we can automatically give. The size of unit that you need will depend on what it is that you’re storing and how much is going to be in the unit.

If you’re not entirely sure which unit size would be best for you, reach out to our team and we can provide some insight.

Do I need insurance for my storage unit?

Insurance is not a requirement for your storage unit, but it’s certainly not a bad idea if you have valuable or priceless items stored inside of your unit. The things that you don’t want to get damaged are certainly worth investing in some coverage for. To set up your coverage, talk to your primary insurance agent, and see if it can be added onto your current insurance policy.

Are storage units secure?

One of the primary reasons that people choose to rent a self-storage unit is because of the level of security associated with these units. Given that the sole purpose of a storage facility is to provide a space to keep your belongings, we take the level of security of our entire facility extremely seriously. Our facility is fully gated and requires all visitors to utilize a code upon entry. Beyond that, our unit doors are made from durable materials.

When it comes to locking your storage unit, you are responsible for investing in a lock to keep the unit secure. The great thing about this is that you can rest assured you are the only one that has a key to access your unit. Beyond all of this, we maintain security cameras and routine surveillance to ensure all units (and the belongings within them) are safe.

Do I have to rent out a storage unit for a specific amount of time?

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer when it comes to storage. We know that while some people may need a storage unit for a year or more, others will only need a unit for a week or two. Our team is always willing to work with you to find a solution that takes care of your storage needs. There’s definitely the ability to get flexible to better tend to the needs of our customers.
