Living in Pittsburgh for the Summer?
Summer is just over a month away, and at EZ Storage® in Pittsburgh, we love when the warmer months of the year finally arrive. Summer can bring about a lot of changes, from students graduating from college to people starting new jobs. If you’re thinking about making a change for the summer and will be living in the city, we can help you find the perfect self-storage unit. You can rent a space for the summer, keeping your belongings safe and sound as you enjoy a summer in the Steel City.
A Summer Job
Perhaps you’ve found a summer job or internship that’s bringing you to the city this summer. You know that the situation won’t be permanent, but you’re still looking forward to spending a few months here. As you think about what you’ll bring with you, it’s important to remember that you’re likely going to be moving again come the end of August or beginning of September.
If you’ll be living in a small apartment on your own or with a roommate, start by thinking about what furniture you’ll need. You’ll definitely need a bed, and you might want to bring your favorite chair with you. As for a dresser, couch, and kitchen or dining room table, you could find these items at a local thrift store at an affordable price, and then donate or sell them at the end of the summer.
As for the rest of your furniture, it could be better to store things for the summer. You’ll be moving out of your current residence, and we can help you find the right storage unit to keep everything safe. Your parents’ basement or garage might be options, but there’s always the chance there’s not enough space for your belongings!
Taking Summer Classes
Many college students enroll in classes during the summer in order to graduate early or to take courses they otherwise wouldn’t have the chance to take. Many colleges and universities open up their dormitories to summer students, so if you’ll be moving into one, you’ll have to be selective about what you bring with you. There’s a good chance you’ll be living on your own, but dorm rooms offer very little in the way of storage space.
The furniture will be provided for you, so you won’t have to worry about bringing a bed, a desk, or a dresser. You might have a favorite chair or couch that could fit in the dorm room, but again, keep in mind that you’ll be moving all of your things out of the dorm at the end of the summer term. A self-storage unit could be worth the investment, in order to keep your extra belongings safe and sound for a few months.
Staying With Family
If you live outside the city, but you’re going to be staying with family in the city for the summer, storage might be a good option for you. You might be moving out of your current house or apartment, and instead of trying to find a new place right away, you’re going to be living with relatives until school starts again or you make definite plans for the future.
You might have lots of boxes and pieces of furniture, and while you’ll have your own room or space in your relative’s house, chances are you won’t be able to fit everything. Your family member may offer the attic or garage as a storage spot, but that can mean having to move their things out of the way to make room for your belongings. Renting an affordable, empty storage unit can make much more sense, so you only have to move your things in, store them for a few months, and then move them out at the end of the summer. Your relative may also have some things they want to store for the summer, which means you can split the cost of the unit with them.
