Cost can often be the biggest obstacle to someone renting a unit, and understanding that, we strive to provide the most affordable and convenient options. However, there are often other aspects that keep people from finding the unit they want. In this blog, we’ll look at some storage myths and why they’re blown a bit out of proportion.

Myth #1: Storage is Too Expensive

While you can find storage facilities that seem to be way too expensive for what they offer, the truth is that reasonably priced units are out there. At our Philly locations, we have a fantastic selection of unit sizes in both standard and climate-controlled layouts, and our staff will gladly help you find the right one. When you think about the value of your personal belongings such as heirlooms, artwork, and electronics, it can be much more affordable to rent a monthly storage unit than to have to replace them should they be damaged in your house or garage.

Myth #2: Storage Facilities Are Unsafe

The idea of taking your personal possessions out of your house and putting them elsewhere can make you a little nervous, especially if your storage facility seems unsafe and unsecure. At EZ, all of our locations have a fenced perimeter, computer-controlled gate, and 24-hour surveillance. We also have resident managers who keep an eye on everything, especially after hours. We want you to feel confident that your things are safe and sound!

Myth #3: I’ll Only Be Able to Access My Unit When the Location is Open

While it’s uncommon to find a storage facility where you can get in 24 hours a day, it’s important that you’re able to access your unit when it works for you, instead of having to wait for the location to open. At our Philly locations, you can visit your storage space between 6:00am and 10:00pm on any day of the year. That should work with virtually anyone’s schedule!

Myth #4: I’ll Have to Sign a Long-Term Contract

Some storage companies will require you to sign a contract for anywhere from six to 12 months. This can keep you locked in longer than you want, and that’s why at EZ, we offer all of our units on a month-to-month basis. We know that life can change quickly, and if you need to move your things out, we want you to be able to do so.
